Meg recalls her first character, Sir Barq (after the root beer) with some fondness. The year was 1982 and her big brother broke down and allowed his four-year old sister to play the new game he brought home from school. He taught her how to add and subtract with the dice and a hand-written character sheet and how to read, one painstaking phonetic syllable at a time (mostly to get out of doing chores by keeping her entertained.)
"Why a knight?" he'd asked.
"Because I'm gonna be a hero!" She proudly declared.
"Girls can't be knights."
"Can too!"
That argument led to a long-standing gaming history of Meg refusing to be the damsel in distress (although she doesn't mind being a damsel in a dress), learning very real sword-fighting and archery, and frequenting every Renaissance festival she could find because girls can be knights.
Meg is a recipe developer and professional writer, with over three decades of tabletop RPG experience and over a decade of Game Master experience. She specializes in homebrew campaigns, where she can utilize her storytelling abilities to provide a dynamic plot customized to the interests of the players. She has run numerous groups of "newbies" in several systems ranging from AD&D to 5th Ed, Pathfinder, Deadlands, and even has been known to LARP a little. With her quirky sense of humor and willingness to listen to player suggestions, every game becomes an adventure, no matter if you are a knight or a villain.
Meg is a strong believer in human rights for all and advocates for equity in gaming, regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity, religion, physical capability, or social status.
